  • 30 minute smokes.

Can I have some recommendations for a mild to medium strength cigar that I can enjoy on a 30 minute walk with the dog and not end up throwing 1/2 a cigar away at the end of it? Not fussed if it is a CC or NC although I do want something I can smoke now rather than in 5 years time. Thanks

Romeo y Julieta Petit Julieta should fit the bill quite well

I'm yet to try them so maybe someone else could confirm if they are any good but I've never been let down by the brand before, H Upmann half corona?

Upmann Half Corona is a very nice smoke IMO. The Monte 5 is nice as well but needs a little time down before smoking.

Another vote for the Monte 5. Also the Ramon Allones Small Club Corona (RASCC) should fit the bill timewise, but I prefer mine with a pint of Guinness (or 2 if I'm smoking too slowly/drinking too quickly).

Thanks for the replies. I'll order a few of each and see what they are like.

+1 on the Monte no 5 being a fine smoke but would you say they are mild to medium? Perhaps the Petit Edmundo instead?

I'd agree with Peejay's suggestions re the RyJ. If you like Upmann brand, the coronas junior and coronas minor are also very good. I'd also go for the San Cristobal El Principe.

Montecristo Media Corona I have always found a reliable 30 min smoke

its not mild but I would classify as medium

Reliable, though maybe not as out and out tasty as a №5.

I'm quite a believer in cheap and cheerful: I'd say Jose L Pietra have gotten a lot better, and can, at a pinch be chucked or slowed down as time allows. Vegueros Mana?itas are definitely a stronger medium I reckon, but are a cracking half hour smoke.

I also rate Don Ramos as "punching above their weight" as NCs of no particular expense (relatively speaking). Ditto Luis Martinez Silver Selection, taking it easy, their tres petite corona might suffice.

Thanks again for the recommendations. I've just placed an order with "the leading cigar specialist in the UK" so will report back in due course. I'd forgotten about the Jose L Piedra range - I used to smoke quite a lot of them as they were readily available at Jomo Kenyata International duty free and were very cheap - so I've included a couple of the petit cetros to compare.

I agree, it's an amazing smoke in my book although it takes me a little longer than 30 minutes to smoke it.

I third that! Cracking smoke, though takes me 45 mins
