For me it really depends on location and timing. So if it's during the day and I'm out on a lunch break or the weekend in the garden it will be a beer.. if it's an evening smoke it will be a some sort of single malt...Recently my favourite whisky with a cigar is the Belvineie 14 yr rum cask the rum gives it a slight sweetness that taste great with a cigar IMO

I tend to not drink while smoking. I try and smoke whilst walking the dogs or if I'm out offroading in the LandRover. But when I was last on here (12 onths ago) I used to smoke a lot of RyJ Churchills and I'd pair them with coke, needed to be full fat. Was nice sat in the garden having a smoke and a drink

THis trick here is regular lines only, no LE/RE/ LCDH & the tricky bit, still in production. You'll notice no doubt I missed off tea. I usually drink black Earl Grey & haven't found any cigar that is a great match, although I most enjoyed the RG Slenderella's but of course they were officially deleted in 2006 although I never saw any boxes dated later than 2001.

The vintages aren't important, I have listed the boxes/ cabs I am currently smoking from:

Black coffee: Hoyo Epi No2 2004
        Beer light/blonde e.g. Stella/ Corsendonk Blonde ERDM CS 2005
Beer Dark: e,g, Leffe Bruin RAG 2010
        Wine Red: Boli CG 2002
        Wine White: PL PC 2006
        Champagne: ERDM DT 2001
        Gin & Tonic: LGC No4 2002
        Rum: Punch Churchill 2003
        Whiskey: Cohiba Lanceros 2001
Fantastic thread, thanks for starting it!

Cheers Niela, Lets hear your fav pairings then; one or two is fine.

I still feel like I am at the beginning of my cigar journey, that makes it hard for me to find the right cigar for the right beverage. Generally I find whiskeys and the like too strong and I taste neither the whiskey that well, nor do I get the subtle flavours of the cigar. But, having said that:

La Aroma de Carribe (Cuba) - Oriental Beauty (Oolong Tea)
The cigar has lovely fruity aromas and the tea has a deep honey note that goes fantastic with a zesty kind of cigar.

Juan Lopez No.2 - Kyo Bancha (sweetened with a hint of Amacha)
The cigar has strong wood and earth flavours. The tea has strong smoky notes that are rounded by the sweetness of the Amacha. Together they form a great combination of earthy flavours and the sweetness binds it all together.

                Great thread.

I have not thought about direct parings before. My general drinking preferences would be, black coffee (more than likely instant), whisky (generally Scotch) , rum (always Cuban ) and I did have a phase of drinking over brewed jasmine tea . I generally have a glass of water on hand too. I also need to confess that during this winter I have at two hot chocolates with cigars and enjoyed them (although I understand this will generally be considered as sacrilege).

Re the hot chocolate - whatever floats your boat. I know a few of the chaps on here like to have a piece of chocolate on hand or enjoy smoking with a can of coke. The sweetness helps with any nicotine rush, and if it tastes good, then why not?

As a wise man once said 'Mmm, sacrilicious'.
