Coolidor

Good afternoon chaps,

So it is safe to say that I am outgrowing my humidor/tupperdor, and since i am looking to buy my first few boxes/cabinets of cigars next week in Amsterdam I am thinking it may be wise to start a coolidor! (I assume cabinets will not fit the tuppleware boxes i have...)

I am just wondering what type of coolbox you folks use?

There is a glut of information on the web that seems to be very USA market orientated, I am unsure what type/quality I should be looking for here.

I mean, do i really need to spend ?100 on a cool box that could go towards some sticks?!

Equally, i do not want to get a cheap one if these a prone to leak, or are not fit for purpose!

I didn't even think about using one of these - much more cost effective! It also seems to have a rubber sealed lid - which is ideal!

you can some times find a great bargain on ebay if they are close by...as the cooler doesn't have to fully functional and if the temperature isn't too much of an issue for you. you can pick up a decent cooler for under ?30 sometimes.

Marc bought one for ?1 recently.

i bought a small non working wine cooler for ?15 which can fit about 10 boxes in i think and doesn't take up much space which i keep under the stairs and use a 2 boveda packs to keep humidity however i think if you go for the larger sizes i think the beads are more cost effective.

This will fit in the bed drawer, so a better controlled environment, and i can see all instruments without having to open the thing. However, i am concerned that this may not keep humidity well, as it doesn't look like it has a rubber seal...

In fact i do not think i could live with the worry of it not being airtight!

I have ordered this baby instead:

I will just have to find somewhere stable for it to go!

Then it will be time to fill it with some smokes!!!

Haven't put it to use yet as it's an awkward size - 60cm deep, so am planning to install it properly when we refurb the hallway.

I've had no luck at B&Q with the scubador - I think they're a discontinued line but, frustratingly, still shown on the website.

The 12.5 litre LocknLocks fucntion really well with a couple of boveda packs- I've got one and have 6 boxes of various sizes, plus a bunch of tubos nesting happily.

Mine came yesterday and currently has 4 Boveda 69's in it and 3 hydrometers to see how well things holds before i fill it (or part of it, since it is a wonderful beast) next week!
