    What are peoples preferances?

I personally have a double blade cutter cost me a massive ?1.99 from amazon. But I was looking at a few punchers as I had a cigar recently and the draw was decent although the cigar was only a 39 guage.

Is their any other devices people prefer to cut their cigar?

I like a straight cut have used a punch but did not like it as I felt that the tar would build up
and you get a nasty taste. what I am looking at is the V cutter that's my next buy

I got every type and I mix it up. Like you say they don't have to be expensive but whatever the price is you can chop it off but you can't put it back so start small [emoji4]

Are we still talking about cigars?

Everything is possible, even teeth if the cigar has been made well.

I read once that the only reason that Cubans bite the end off is because they are too poor to buy cutters

And the only moment I do it is when I dont have a cutter....

Something it cannot be learnt reading.... hahahahaha.

Just kidding, I am sure it can be learnt reading.

It helps to know how to do it for those moments the cutter was left at home... or in the car while taking a long walk, etc....

a good old fashioned bite, i have to try that..

I tend to use a Xkiar x2 cutter, i used to have a really cheap one, then decided to buy a good quality one as a bday present to my self, i see why they are more expensive...they are nice and Sharpe and don't really go blunt, my cheapo one was ripping the tobacco...I have a punch and tend to use this on larger rg cigars, but not all the time.. just as and when i feel too.

This is where a lighter with a cutter attached is helpful!!! If you seriously dont have a cutter i have a couple kicking around from different sources ( sponsored ones from cigar stores etc) that you can have... Pm me your address. Gotta be better than biting....

                          Thank you very much @Emaresse,

I have some cutters, there is no need, normally I dont forget them but it happens once in a while.

The idea of the lighter with the punch is great, I had one, that I lost very nice by Lotus.... that is why I dont get fancy with them as I lose them.. they may last months or years some, but finally all are gone.

                          Thanks gents.

I have, as many do, an assortment of cutters and punches. I prefer the single blade cutters, as double blade ones seem to tear rather than slice, at least at the cheapo end. I've a fairly cheap V cutter, but could always be convinced by a nicer one. As for a punch, the one on the bottom of my lighter is surprisingly good.

This all said, my favourite cigar tool is my swiss army cigar tool, a genuine Victorinox, but with a very sharp and ingenious cigar cutter built in.

Does the V cutter work well on the smaller gauge cigars like 40/42 or are they aimed at th bigger gauge?
