Getting a new humidor - welcoming suggestions for cigars

I'm afraid I know nothing about non Cubans but if you're looking at robustos the Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure No 2 is a fairly mild one I enjoy, Partagas D4s are really nice also but are on the stronger side. Trying one of each of those might help you get an idea where your tastes lay and are not massively expensive.

I'll put those on my next order. I find I like both a lighter and stronger taste, but it depends on the time of day. For instance, if I'm lighting up at mid day, I prefer a lighter smoke, but if it's an evening smoke with a whisky I prefer a stronger smoke.

Also You have a great quality price with Rafael Gonzalez Marquez long panetela or panatela extra.

I received 2 of each yesterday, they are in my humidor at the moment. Excited to light one up.

How long would you recommend having them in the humidor before smoking are do you think they'll be grand to smoke right away?

I generally try to leave new arrivals for 3-4 weeks but often succumb earlier.

It may we'll be worth trying one now and then the other after that period to see for yourself if you prefer them "rested".

I thought that, I was told NC cigars can be smoked right away but CC can't because the ingredients are fresher and would give a strong foul taste. But I'm not sure how true that is. A lot of cigar facts tend to be peoples personal opinions

+1 on what Budgie Smuggler said. Typically I would want to let them rest at least 4 weeks, especially if they had come in the post, but with a lot being about personal preference trying one now and one after a period of time is a good idea.

When buying a box rather than singles I like to try to leave them untouched for 6-12 months as an ideal but the temptation is usually far too strong

I think there is definitely some truth in that but it refers more to the age of the cigar rather than the stress of transport.

When cigars are freshly rolled they have a strong ammonia taste which disappears with aging, I find 6-12 months as stated above to be a good ballpark figure.

When cigars are transported they would likely be exposed to some less than perfect conditions, many people find that stabilising them in a humidor for a few weeks will improve them over smoking them straight away.

I've not tried the RG panetela or many thin smokes at all actually, but the perlas are lovely little smokes if you like the slightly sweeter profile. For breakfast with a coffee I think they are my favourite.
