  • Villiger Gold Tube?

Hi all. Anyone tried these before? My sisters-in-law brought them back from Dubai during the summer and they've been sitting un-tube in my humidor since. I was thinking about trying one tonight and wondered if you guys had any opinions on them.

    Cuban Filler!

    Hi Gus!

Never heard of 'em. I like that they have "Cuban Filler" and the packaging is the bomb! Light one up and let us know how you get on.

I will do, TJ. We're having a late dinner tonight then I'll be firing one up and I'll feed back.

I found the one I smoked to be a bit uninspired to be honest. It was like that guy from work; perfectly decent enough guy and able to do his job well but a bit dull. Light bodied, easy draw, great burn and the main flavour profile was mainly clay. Perfectly fine as a gift given to you but you'd be a wee bit raging if you bought them for yourself.

Villiger I think is like that, generally it's pleasant easy smoke, one that you can enjoy if your not feeling like smoking something on the stronger side. I personally enjoy the villiger cigars for a morning smoke but it wouldn't be one for smoking with a nice whiskey IMO.

I smoked a Villiger connecticut churchill (you can't get them here afaik) and it was by far the best villiger cigar I have smoked, it's just a pity it costs so much in tax duties to get them in from america.

Better than that other guy at work...

Seriously though I've had a pack of villager gold tubos and they're bland like you say.

I'm not sure I've had the exact same but when I first started trying cigars I had a few Villigers as they were readily available in the supermarket along with Henri Wintermans and Macanudo. From memory they were all fairly similar, pleasant enough but very light and with no complexity.

I'd be interested to hear how you find them, it must be nearly 10 years since I had a couple of them.

Compared to Henri Wintermans, cafe crem & Hamlets they are luxury IMO, but if your going to compare them to any half decent ?10 stick it just doesn't compare. I like villigers and I'll always have a couple in my humidor as they are a nice light smoke, if your not really in the mood for a strong cigar but would like a smoke.

I'm not great at describing cigars at the moment, with constant reading of reviews and tasting more cigars, I will hopefully learn to articulate what I am tasting when smoking cigars.

The villager long fillers you can pick up on the continent are OK. Very mild but pleasant smokes, totally different to the stuff you get in the UK IMO.
