I keep being bombarded by a certain online cigar retailer plugging Macanudo cigars. I was wondering if anyone has tried and if they are any good?

I did try a few from the inka blend range when they were the topic of all emails but wasn't blown over - maybe the macanudos are different or is their advertising just a way of selling rubbish cigars?

Not sure its fair to say we sell rubbish cigars? We sell every cigar that are imported into the UK so clearly they cant all be rubbish or we would not be the largest cigar specialist in the UK

What may be rubbish to you, may be a superb smoke to someone else.

Perhaps a silly example but if I may: we sell literally zillions of Dutch cigars, my clients love them and many won't smoke anything else.I would not smoke them as they are simply not the cigar that suits me for a multitude of reasons . that doesn't make them a 'rubbish ' cigar. Just not a cigar that suits me personally if you see the analogy.' Horses for courses'

We all have different palates and that perhaps the fun of trying different brands and sizes till you settle on the ideal cigar(s) that suit you.

There are many variables that affect the individuals smoking experience and I would also say that you cant judge a cigar by smoking just one

Hi Dannyg1,

I smoked a few Macanudo many years ago and found 'em to be quite nice, actually. If memory serves, I think it was called a "Hyde Park." I was in Atlanta, Georgia USA at the time and stopped in on a local jazz bar where I picked up a few cigars. I chained-smoked two, after which I accepted an offer for a "Brazilian" massage. (The Atlanta girls are very friendly...)

Anyway, the Macanudo Hyde Parke is a robusto stye cigar and quite mild, as I recall. So if you enjoy mild cigars, I suggest you "pick one up and smoke it sometime." -PP

Hope this helps!

Perhaps I was being a little too general so let me just qualify that of the half dozen or so Macanudos I've smoked all have been bland to the point of boring including the one I smoked in Club Macanudo in NYC last year but don't let that stop you sending me an Inspirado to review for the forum smokeymo
I also have a box of Dutch half coronas which I find more than acceptable for a quick smoke.

For every cigar brand there is a buyer otherwise no point stocking them.

Spot on Tony and a lot of what is bought is affected by cost especially in this country

Macanudo were the cigars of choice for a friend of mine until I introduced him to a Party D4.

Now if you can get your hands on some original Jamaican Macanudos they're a completely different cigar, mild but fragrant.

hmmm shit or not shit ? lol well I cant profess to having smoked all Macanudo cigars ( pretty big range) but as an International brand they are hugely succesful so a lot of people out there think they are in the ' not shit' category lol

I can tell you the Inspirado range are bloody good smokes

Don't diss them till you have tried them !

cheers

If PJ was referring to the 1970's version then indeed there were quite a smoke & still are. I'll be taking my last one to Jamaica in January & will smoke it at Montego Bay!
