But why buy a 75% to calibrate, Any reason? You could just put a 69 or 65 in a pouch to calibrate instead?

I was going to do exactly this, but I was ?4 odd short of my ?50 free delivery, so I thought I may as well lob a proper calibration kit in my basket!

I read somewhere I think that some of them are designed to be calibrated at 75%, and it isn't necessarily a straight scale of error - e.g. if it's 4% low reading at 60%, it won't necessarily be 4% low reading at 70%. But ..... people coped OK before accurate digital hygrometers were around, so I suspect this is all a myth put about by upmarket hygrometer merchants, preying on the nervous newbies such as myself...

I got a couple of cheaper digital hygrometers that weren't reading what the Boveda bags stated (this was in a sealed jar) so I thought I'd get the calibration kit to check if the hygrometer or the Boveda was the issue. The hygrometers were both 4% out which I thought was unacceptable. I ditched the cheap ones, bought a Calibre4 which I could calibrate and now at least I trust what it says.

Now my humidor has 4 x 65% Boveda bags in it and it reads on my calibrated hygrometer 65%-66% depending on the weather and time of day.

Exactly this, Harvey! I'm aware there are a myriad of ways I could screw up before I get more experienced. The last thing I want to do is get mold on my expensive new purchases, or crack the wrappers. If there's a gadgety, accurate way to take the weak, idiotic link (me) out of the equation for the time being, I'm going to use it!

I've got 72 in the humidor at the moment, but have bought some 69s to switch to when they run out, as it seems to be holding about 71, and I'd feel happier at 67-69ish.

Thanks for making sure I wasn't knackering my cigars, though! I appreciate it!
May I ask how many 72% Bovedas you're using and what size your humidor is? I'm also using 2-off 72% Bovedas in a 50-capacity humidor and it's settled at 69%. I'm also going to switch to 69% Bovedas once the current ones run out.

Of course! This one is 50-count with two of the 60 gram Boveda packs in it, too.
