Summer time and humi RH

Hey Guy

Ok I was looking for a few smokes I want to take with me tomorrow and just put them on one side. however when searching my humi and feeling my cigars they felt a bit more spongy then normal.

I know because of the heat we've had recently it means rh is all over the place... But i have been lucky my humi and coolidor have stayed between 67- 70 never above not that I can see.

But my cigars feel too spongy compared to spring and winter....is this normal? Do you think it's wise to drop down for 65% rather than 69%. Or just leave it as it is?

I dropped to 65% , and have noticed they burn better, saying that I put them in a cigar box out of humidor for 2 days , this question should be aimed at the more experienced cigar smokers , so take my opinion lightly

In Canada where 99% of houses are forced air heated ... For years I have recommended ... Don't add water to your humi from middle of May to end of sept .

may be different for passively heated homes ( radiator or fireplace or whatever ) .

when your ( forced air ) furnace cycles drop off for the summer ... Ambient humidity ( here in Alberta ) can go from 35% ( in winter ) to 80/90 % during a rainy month ( in summer ) .

shamz ... I would remove all humidity from yer humidor .

The current humidity in my garage is 35% but the humidity in my new wine cooler without the beads I'm waiting for is 79%, now that's a good seal.

Wouldn't that dry out all the cigars in the humi?

yes it would until they reach ambient humidity ... Put a hygrometer on top of or beside your humidor .
