• Good buy or good bye?

The Wife loves a bargain, and has been going to car boot sales with her Dad since she was a kid.
Today, she came back with a humidor full of (15) Cohiba's :-o

I'm after the opinion of you experts to be honest. Shall I keep 'em or bin 'em?
Will I only find out when I smoke them?

(Hope this works OK, I'm doing it off of my phone)

Straight away looking at the bands: fake

The bands look ok, if it wasn't for the big giveaway! The rows of little white blocks, there should be three rows above the Cohiba text, three clean clear rows that aren't cut off. The third row is clearly cut off.

I agree with Simon G entirely.

But they Appear to be triple capped... And not too lumpy n toothy... So could be a decent (unlikley to be awesome!) smoke hiding in there. Keep em in quarantine for a while, and so long as nothing orrible occurs.... Beetles or mould .... Then they could be really useful humidor ballast, and a decent stick for those non-smoking 'guests' who fancy a stick after the odd pint!

Get em to the right humidity etc. Then try one. If its orrible then ditch. ... But neverlook a gift horse in the mouth etc! And dont forget a hearty thank you to the mrs... Bringing home cigars is to be wholly encouraged!!!

          I won't fool anybody...I was expecting them to be fakes...but at less than ?2 a pop, I won't divorce her yet :-D

What do you make of the humidor? It's, erm, unique I guess.

Also looking at the bands, the second closest one, where the band rejoins itself and overlaps, this should happen behind the back, not by the front. Good luck. Humidor looks ok as long as it holds humidity.

Looks rather like the contents of some fake cohibas i had. I kept them for years, slowly smoking those that werent rock hard, keeping the rest for humi ballast. I only ditched them when the remaining sticks were those that were rock solid and i had some quality sticks hatwanted the space! They were ok. That lot looks ok....imho

I'm no expert but from the related You Tube clips that I've viewed via the forum recently, it does at least look like your cigars are made with long filler tobacco, so they might be alright. Only one way to find out!

I wish I found something like this! Even as fakes: at ?2 a pop they can't be that bad.

A good point PeeJay, I guess with a humidor that rarely gets above 4 cigars I can't be quite so discerning with my choices.

You look to be eligible for PMs CPWSolf so get pestering the boss. Then send me your address and I'll bung you some from my bomb box to help fill your humi.
