• Cigar bombs

You guys are gonna have to excuse my ignorance here, but what exactly is a cigar bomb?

Is it a group of people who all get together and swap sticks? Or is it more of a one-off gift etc?

    Cheers,
    Dave

It's more of a surprise one-off gift, but one that tends to have serious repercussions!

TheMonk nailed it. Obviously you need to have PMs to find out people's addresses. I have an address book which contains lots of members so you can start by asking me. Sometimes when someone mentions they would like to try or can't find a particular stick another member will send them one as a surprise gift, a bomb. I suspect our forum is quite closely monitored at GCHQ!

Haha! I've been wondering the same thing, WDave40, but was too embarrassed to ask. Better you than me! (LOL)

This cigar bomb thing looks great. It is a lot different to what you would see from other forums etc.

Why do people give their cigars away, who came up with the idea and what is the reason?

It is very generous and I'm sure those that have been on the receiving end are very grateful, it's a brilliant thing to do especially in this day and age when generally you get nothing for nothing.

            It's very impressive.

Good Question WDave40, these days when sending sending cigars through the mail one should be careful about using the 'Bomb' in the Post Office. Even online it seems to shock some people. There have been BOTL (that's Brothers of the Leaf) in the past, e.g. some of our American friends, who bomb rather heavily but this doesn't usually go down well with our more natural British reserve. Personally I have sent a couple out to people enquiring about a particular vitola or two & all I expect in return is a review when it's been smoked (hey, nothing is actually for free!).

I have also exchanged slightly larger bombs with BOTL's I have been corresponding with & this has lead to many interesting cigars in return. First you need to have a few spares, make sure you are not sending loads of NC's to someone you know who doesn't smoke them, expecting their finest Havanas in return & prepare the other half coz they certainly don't understand the concept of receiving free cigars & my own is always convinced they something I have ordered & then deny it! I use VHS boxes for security & it limits the number of cigars to around 5, which seems acceptable to all I have sent too.
