• Postage of 5 packs, question

Hey folks.

I just received another order. Few singles and one 5 pack. Singles came in good state, nice and spongy, they were in zip lock bag but 5 pack was just thrown into the box without any wrap/bag and all sticks are bone dry. Just wondering if this is common thing online retailers do with packs and boxes? Or maybe should I ask if one day out of the humidor would have such impact on cigars?

Cheers
Tom

If they are bone dry and not spongy at all i would ask for them to be replaced.

I think cigars can last for a few weeks without being in a humidor before getting in a bad state.not speaking from experience just looking at it from technical point of view it would take a least a month or two before they dry out.

Personaly I think the 5 pack wasen't properly humidified, if the cigars are in perfect condition I would stick them in the humidor
till they become spongy like the single ones, if they are not in the condition you were expecting them to be in I would send them back.

I have put them in tupperware as my humi is still too damp to put sticks in. They look as usual, will see if they get any better...

if there is an audible crackle as you gentle squeeze they are on the dry side... its quite difficult to get them bone dry and crispy, they need to be 'out' of a humi for quite some time.

like TonyN said, if you arent happy then consider returning them. I would call the vendor and let them know your thoughts. If its our sponsor or someone like mysmokingshop its highly likely that your call will be sensibly met.

Thankfully nothing fancy, JLP PC, I was stocking up cause I smoke them almost every day and few times per week have to go to the shop to get more. While 5 pack is not gonna last too long, with what I already had it will give me about 10 days to get another one. Or to finally order 25 .

Box is currently on the bottom of humidor, will check them out in a day or two. On a good side, they smell as any other JLP I've ever had, so they might be just right.

There is some cracking sound when I squeeze them, but compared to any other cigar I had from reputable shop they are like some unwrapped sticks you can get at newsagents etc. It surprised me, but will try and revive them, if it doesn't work, I'll call the seller just to inform them what happened and put it down towards learning curve .

I would mention it now so they know ,otherwise they could say why didn't you say before when you received them.
I would revive them slowly otherwise the cigars may split example like your doing now at 65 them 69
when they are nice and spongy then decide what humidity your going to keep them at.

call them first. If they aren't right after your best efforts, you will no doubt catch the blame for screwing them up. If you log that they are dry they at least know. If you pop dry sticks into a 'wet' humi they may split...

And I got almost instant reply from them.

Apparently the cigars were stored at 67% RH prior to the postage and one day in the box wouldn't be enough to dry them out that much. Well, as much as I am confused now cause sticks look different, I must add that seller offered me replacement if I am unhappy.

The price of 5pack is not that massive (like 23 quid or so?) and certainly not worth the time, effort and additional postage if I'd send them back, so I I'll keep these sticks this time, but it is good to know that in case of any problems goods will be replaced without any hesitation.

Now that I received reply that satisfied me, I can also add that purchased stuff came from mysmokingshop. It took Simon only few minutes to respond in respectful manner, and by doing so he scored highly in my eyes.
