  • if you emmigrate to spain, taking cigars with you

im seriously thinking of moving to canary islands as I work from home or away (west africa mainly) I have been going through, in my head, possessions I would take and wondered, can you take your cigars with you without paying tax on them again or do you have to declare them for duty to be added ?

if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I do not know the answer but if they are your 'possessions' and you can prove as such I doubt you'd be needing to pay any duty.

I moved back from Switzerland with 500 sticks just did a bit of research and I coulkdnt find a definitive answer. In short I think if you took them all back in boxes like you had bought them the day before you could be done however if you have had them ageing are in a humidor then have a nice customs guy you will be alright. Obviously if you are move 10k of them logistically it would be a nightmare too. Also think Canaries come under EU laws so if you come from UK should be fine...
