Regular Production - What needs to be left?

I'm aware this has been done before, but I'm wondering what if anything has changed.

What would be a waste to be smoked ROTT - and how long do they need?

I'd say most EL & RE's benefit for a further year in the humi at least. I know some enjoy them straight off the shelf but 9/10 they really are better with further age. However, the best reason to try a few is of course to decide if you want to buy a box or two or pass on this particular offering. The art of judging how a cigar will turn out is somewhat like the wine taster having a sip from the barrel & trying to decide what it might be like when bottled for a few years. Ok, well a little easier perhaps. It's not something I am terribly good at but of course if you wait for everyone to start raving about them if a few years time, you either can't find them or they have doubled in price!

I'd say the fuller bodied cigars generally require more age. Partagas especially. Huge difference in flavour.
Cohiba only get better!
Generally I would go with most need some time, the ELs and REs usually have a bit of age to them by production as do some regular such as Behike but they all still do get better with age.

As an aside, I think part of the issue is that people like to try one as soon as they receive them, in my experience leaving them for 3-4 weeks can be of benefit once they've acclimatised to whatever RH you're used to smoking your sticks at.

defo agree with that.....the 3 times I've tried a cigar soon as I bought them I've not enjoyed them...but with a4 weeks in the humi they taste much better

Totally agree. When I get some in, the entry in my spreadsheet has an arrival date and then a smoking from date.
