Hi everyone. I'm new to smoking cigars. Please help me pick my first?

Hi all. I have never smoked as much as a cigarette in my life, but I would like to try and smoke at least one good cigar in my life to see what it's like. There are no tobacconists (at least no non-"electronic" ones) in my area so I may have a problem. Needless to say I don't want to buy my first cigar(s) from the supermarket.

Can you chaps please help me out? I'm in my early twenties and I like gin and earl grey tea lol. I would preferably like to smoke a big bastard cigar for my first one.. Like a Churchill or something?

So to recap... Could you please advice me on where to buy my cigars and which ones I should be looking out for? Thanks. I'm not a snob, and I don't want to spend a small fortune.

Smoking a cigar that size without having experienced nicotine in big doses, is not going to go well. Even short cigars knock people out and cause them to feel very nauseous. I'd begin with a shorter but chubby cigar, with a light profile - Hoyo De Monterrey Petit Robusto for example.

My first cigar, given to me at a friends wedding was a Romeo y Julieta Churchill... fantastic smoke and still one of my favourites, though a fairly long smoke so a Short or Wide Churchill (as already mentioned) may be a better starting point...

Or you could try a sampler (eg. https://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/jack-fros...rs-p-8203.html ) to give you a few different flavours to start with...

I'd also recommend CGars (there is a link to their website at the top of the page ^^^), good, friendly service and the website is very good, giving descriptions/tasting notes which I found useful...

Thanks for all the fast replies. It would be a little overwhelming to try and reply to everyone so I'll just address the main questions.

Max price? I don't know man, I'm broke lol. Maybe a tenner? I am right for not wanting to buy cheap nasty ones from the supermarket right? Some people in my family are telling me to just go and pick any old ones up from a corner shop. But I think that defeats the purpose of smoking a cigar, you may as well just smoke cigarettes if you're going to do that.

So it looks like I'll be buying something online. I take it that cigar smoking is not an inexpensive hobby then?

As a complete new smoker...I personally don't recommend going for a cheaper stick..as you might be put off.

Don't think bigger the better...I did the same mistake when gf getting in to cigars and they weren't for me at the start....go for a mid to premium cigar.

I personally would recommend a cohiba Siglo III or a Partagas Serie D5...not to big for a first smoke and both should last about 45 minutes.

Give you self an hour to chill and relax while smoking.

Romeo y Julieta are a good starter cigar maybe a Nr 3 or a short Churchill. But if you've never smoked as Deno said beware of the nicotine hit.

I echo that I wouldn't go for too big a smoke to begin with, a Petit Corona size (which could be considered average size) lasts me 40 odd minutes, some monster sizes can last hours, which is far too long if you're not used to it
