Everyone has different tastes and favourites. With a budget of a tenner to try your first cigar you could do a lot worse than ordering an upmann corona junior for 7.09 from Mysmokingshop. I'm sure they would cut it for you if you asked them if you don't have a cutter. Their postage and packing starts at 2.99. You would then need a Box of matches and a spare 30 - 45 mins. Bigger cigars are more expensive, and there are loads of brands shapes and sizes to explore if you enjoy the experience.

    Hope that helps.

Okay everyone, I'm about to buy my first cigar.

Which website should I use? And which cigar should I choice? The Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill, or the Sancho Panza Coronas Gigantes?

I also need a cutter and a proper lighter. You can't just light up a good cigar with any old shit can you? So where can I get these? Thanks guys.

Don't get the Corona Gigantes for your first cigar, you'll likely end up spewing if you try to finish it.

Personally I'd get the Wide Churchill from MySmokingShop, a cheap disposable cutter and a pack of long matches, just make sure the match head burns completely before lighting.

On here we can only mention the UK vendors.... cgars.co.uk is great...I've used them many times and are very helpful.

Personally i think you should start off with a smaller vitoal...stick to a half / Petit Corona Or half Robusto

I would go for a Cohiba Siglo 2 or RyJ 03

I appreciate the efforts to try and get to me to smoke a smaller cigar, but (perhaps to my detriment?) I'm quite stubborn when it comes to these things. I'm sticking with the big daddy cigars.

So right now I'm looking at this: https://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/romeo-jul...le-p-8998.html

I'm happy with paying this kind of money, but I can't help but wonder if there's something better I can buy for my first one. Sorry if I'm asking the same questions over and over, but I want to get this right. Can anyone tell me what this cigar tastes like? And can you guys please go into a bit more detail about just how difficult cigar smoking can be for noobs? I plan on lightning one up and going for a long walk.

            thanks again.

The best you can do is finding a store where you can buy singles... and start trying marevas ( petit coronas) and robustos...
From Honduras there is a brand Don Tomas, easy to smoke, nice tastes, and good prices.. try the Don Tomas Rotzyld.
And from habana those sizes I mentioned you whatever you can find and pay.

              Cheers.

Tbh I think you are better going with the suggestions . I don't see point in spending big money on a finer vitola. When you and your palate / taste buds haven't experienced cigars. This isn't meant to be condescending.

I just have seen loads folk grab big expensive sticks and can't finish them.

Time served. ..work your pay up to different sizes and flavours. Trust me your system might not be able to handle a big nicotine hit. Jmho

I checked your location and you live very close to me. Do you know of any tobbocanists in the area? I can't seem to find ANY.

Lol, I remember how sick I felt when I jumped in to a Monti No2, I'd already had a few robusto size cigars but that knocked me for six, don't try to be a hero!

Oh cool. I was looking for tobacconists. I didn't know you could buy cigars from these sorts of shops? They sell all the good Cuban brands everything?

Don't think bigger the better...I did the same mistake when gf getting in to cigars and they weren't for me at the start....go for a mid to premium cigar.

I personally would recommend a cohiba Siglo III or a Partagas Serie D5...not to big for a first smoke and both should last about 45 minutes.

Give you self an hour to chill and relax while smoking.

                          Hope this helps

I can definitely agree with what shamz is saying!

best way to be put off smoking cigars forever is to go out and get a big cheap Non Cuban. For a first cigar I would definately go for a Cuban that is light to medium bodied and somewhere around petit corona size.

Good starting brands are Romeo and Juliet and hoyo de Monterrey as have already been suggested. Or if you want to splash out then a Trinidad or cohiba might be a good start. I would recommend the Trinidad Reyes, punch coronation tubo and el rey del mundo Demi tasse.

the choice can be quite daunting but you cannot really go wrong if you pick a popular Cuban. The search tools on cgars are very helpful. Set it for light to medium body and from Cuba and then sort by lowest price first and you will get a nice list to work your way through.

Can also second the vote for Upman junior corona. It's a bit of a gamble buying one ?20 cigar when your not sure what size and flavours you like. If I had ?20 to spend I'd probably want to buy 2 or 3 smaller cigars of different brands and then in my next order I would buy the bigger brother of the one I liked the most.

also don't forget if you don't have a humidor then you might be best off buying a tubed cigar unless you start a tupperdor

Not sure...I was quite surprised at what my local shop sold...I thought it was just a sweet shop untill I saw it on here.
