What do you use? Cutter or a punch?

A xikar two blade guillotine .... And the occassional punch... Usually to do with whether i am at homrelaxing,r out and about and how much kit i can fit in an available pocket

I believe it's just the material of the case. 1's are metal, 2's some sort of composite plastic and 3's are wood and fancy metals. Might be wrong but I remember when I was looking that's the only difference I could see. I have a xi2 and believe it is fantastic.

I recently bought a Cohiba v cutter as they seem to be the latest craze but I find the 'V' a little distracting and weird in my mouth. Maybe I cut too deep or maybe I'm just weird but I've gone back to the straight cut of my Xikar.

Bought my xikar cutter about a billion years ago.... Couldn't tell you which it is.... Other than its grey..... It's very good on well hydrated and newer sticks. I also found that as with most double bladed guillotines, you have to simply go boldly and everything works out fine. On older sticks, simply being deliberate and firm is the answer otherwise it can crack the wrapper.

I also invested in one of the victorinox with the x3 punches in its armoury. I like this. Because of the sticks i tend to favour, the largest punch gets the most use, but have used the tiddler too on a slender aged stick.

I am still led by random whim, and a standard guillotine cutter on my main lighter....

I recently got the Xicar XO cutter. I have grown quite fond of it as I like the design and it cuts really well. The only problem is that it's a little thick and I have trouble seeing if the cigar is placed well enough to make a straight cut.

I'm still a new enough cigar smoker to be experimenting with different cuts. Have just bought these 2 Colibri V cutters

The small one I bought from ebay but due to its size is limited in what it can cut. I did use it on a Romeo y Julieta Petit Julieta but I don't think it would be much use on anything with a bigger ring gauge.

The big one on the other hand could easily cut a small childs arm off!

Just wish that Colibri or another quality manufacturer would make a V-cut in Silver - even if it was Silver plate as it would be a nice heirloom piece.

These days I use a straight cut using a Xikar for Robusto and larger rg. For smaller rg ,i.e.winter smokes which tend to be party shorts I use a punch.

40 or under cut with Palio, 42 or larger (especially 50+) punch. Punching really has advantages with larger RG IMHO & allows you to control the draw.

all it is in my opinion is a different shape on the cap when you cut it .
