Hard to give a definitive answer to that. Basically when I pick up a cigar and think that a V cut would suit it better.

So strange you brought up this old thread i created last year..in a year i've changed my thought process, especially recently, my recent experience of punches have really changed my experience of smoking. I found the draw exceptional..sometimes i found cutting the head with it a bit difficult, but i'm assuming as it was a cheap punch it doesn't stay Sharpe all the time..

When I went to the DR I punched every cigar for two weeks and ended up with tongue burn like inexperienced pipe smokers get.

The Credo punches are excellent, but expensive. That's the only thing I can think of that would be real competition for my v cutter.

Only thing I can think of peejay for you getting tongue bite is the hole might of been on the small side
if you were smoking thick guage cigars.
