  • What do you use? Cutter or a punch?

I use a cutter just as that all I've ever used, and it's a plain guillotine cutter, but looking at pic on here people use also sorts.

Do you have different Experience with different types of cuts? Ie seen the cutter that cuts an inlet kind of cut rather than a straight cut..does it depending on the ring gauge...ie I can't see a punch being great for a 60 RG..but I might be mistaken.

    Just curious I suppose

Personally I prefer a punch for larger RG as it stops it being a wind tunnel; If the hole is too small you can punch multiple times.

I haven't used a v cutter but will give it a go at some point.

I mainly use my Palio cutter but I'm considering buying a Xikar as I don't think the Palio is sharp enough.

I really prefer a punch - and the benefit is, if something goes wrong, you can cut!

Mine is rather blunt and also considering an upgrade! By all accounts the Xikar are amazing!

Like you I've only ever used a cutter... I have a Xikar Xi2 but don't tend to take that out, for which I have a couple of other guillotine cutters ... one blanked easy cutter type, the others open... I've never tried a V cutter or a punch...

Not having tried I wouldn't know but I'm guessing a punch might give a more consistent draw through different ring gauges as the punched hole would always be the same size?

I have a couple of cutters, one regular and a Xikar X8 75 ring gauge that will cut any CC. I started out punching but then moved to cutting.

So you pick up the cigar you're going to smoke and you give the head a little squeeze and you hear a little crackle, a little dry perhaps? Use your V cutter to cut a neat slot across the cap where the straight cutter risks causing it to unravel unless its razor sharp.

I use my palio cutter on pyramide cigars and my xikar punch on non pyramide both very sharp.

I use a cutter and a punch I think that if the cigar is small the cutter is fine but on the bigger cigars when using the cutter it becomes to easy to draw and it feels like you are drawing in air.
need to get a v cutter to try.
