I was going to do something similar...I was gonna purchase 2 to 3 different med to premium short smoke cc... Separate them in two piles and add them to lock and lock container... One will have a 72 Rh and the other would be 65 or 62 rh.....

To really taste the difference I was either going to smoke them together or one after the other..otherwise i don't think I would be able to tell the difference.

My humidors sit about 63-65% RH with a couple of 69% Bovedas in each. Originally I used 72% Bovedas and a different location which gave a RH about 69-70%. Personally I prefer the way the cigars smoke now at the slightly lower RH.

Does it change the taste at all or is it just the burn characteristics?

I think there are some differences in taste but the biggest change is with the burn a too moist cigar will go out often, burn unevenly depending on how the moisture of the tobacco is distributed through out the radius of the cigar.

Now I'm no expert.... but I found that the burn seems better and seems to develop more smoke which in turn provides more flavour though I don't think that the flavour actually changes just maybe more accessible...

how do you recharge them ?

Tupperware that can deal well, cup of water in the middle and stand the boveda spaced out around the edges, I put it on the cupboards in my kitchen, or on a boiler. Somewhere quite warm and then wait.

I also microwave the water in the cup first as it will kill bacteria and it will also give the humidity in the Tupperware a good headstart.

I bought a few and rotate them, once they get hard, the others are usually fully rehydrated. Then swap them over.
