Obvious answer here. You have enough packs per amount of cigars.

The only issue I could see with temp being too low (off the top of my wine affected head) is if you reach dew point and actually end up with water forming on your sticks. But if your at that point it's bad days indeed.

So this is how I am currently keeping my ever growing collection of cigarsImageUploadedByTapatalk1457204603.714704.jpg

Although the Tesco lock box isn't the prettiest of things, with enough cigars in it sits at 69/69 without any humidification system.

The humidor I have got a tube of heartfelt beads in and this also sits at 69/69. Get a Tesco box that's my advice. While I would love a beautiful humidor I haven't got the money.

I used to worry about it and be checking them every day but I haven't got the time to check them like that. Now I know the way I do it works.

I have one electronic hygro/temp and I switch from box to box once a week to check both and this has been working for me for the last 3 months.

Collecting and smoking cigars should be enjoyable and the stress bought by keeping them in the right conditions needs to be minimised otherwise there is no point in this stress relieving pastime.

        Good luck.

Absolutely true.. however, it's worth considering that very few humidors are 'hermetically sealed', and as the external 'ambient humidity levels' in most rooms in the UK (especially at this time of year) will naturally be lower than that required within the humidor.. over time, most lose humidity (even if not opened) through evaporation, etc.. In my experience desktop humidors (like the one in the picture) are particularly susceptible to accelerated loss if left in close-ish proximity to radiators or other heat sources.
Hence the reason for asking about it's location.
          Hope it helps.

The collecting is the most addictive part, it pains me to light up a cigar I only have one of so I end up buying a box so I don't feel so bad about smoking that particular one, then I get a bollocking for 'wasting my money' on another box!

Can't win either way. Now she knows I have two boxes, how am I going to sneak another lock box in without her seeing?

Can't see her buying that. it's ok when you have a half full box because you can slip sticks in without her knowing but when the storage is full it makes it a little more difficult. Off to Belgium at the end of the month so I'll bite the bullet and just do it. Taken enough ear chewings over the years, she will get over it.

Relationships are a two way street. Never let them forget that, they selectively forget it all too often.

But back to the real matter at hand. You could always make the upgrade from two small to one big (with a little extra room to spare). Obviously you "cover" the cost of this by getting rid of the small and your doing it because controling one humidor is more simple than one.

Basically lie through your teeth to get a Wineador.

And you reckon your hygro is spot on.
Back to Budgie's post then. Pop your stock, Boveda and hygro in a well sealed tupperware container and check whether the humidor needs a reseasoning (using your hygro obviously) This operation will serve a couple of purposes: potentially seasoning the humi and seeing whether the sticks are still sucking up moisture. In the tupperdore, there'll be no buffering or seasoning issues to worry about: just moisture, tobacco and your hygro. Keep us all posted

Once your happy with the seasoning, if your RH starts falling again, your humi's probably crapped out. Just a thought: is the glass/plastic window loose and easy to move about? Might be leaking there. I can't recall anyone on here with an absolutely shit humidor, so hopefully you'll find out what the issue is.

I personaly think it's the seal on the humidor.

great pics.... Cracking collection. I have two desktop humis ( cc & nc) and my lock nlock box collection is steadily growing in the back of a cupboard!!! I agree, the lock boxes offer a pretty care free way to store boxes and sticks. I think the only risk in them is temp, so finding a reasonably stable pot for them is key.

fwiw i think stability wins as the prime consideration.... Iron out extreme low or high humidity& temp, and from there slow steady changes of both due to the changing seasons is nothing more than to be expected.

We ( the good folk of this forum) spend good money on quality sticks. These sticks are born in hot n humid conditions, then get frozen, then get moved around more, in and out of humidors, cars, bags, bubble wrap envelopes and mailsacks, and then into the fine nests we prepare for them!

If you can attain and maintain rock steady conditions, then all to the good. If not, get as close to it as you can, then spark up a stick and relax! This cigar lark is meant to be fun, not stressful!
