Getting stressed.

Evening gents. Sorry I haven't been around much just been busy with work. Anyway I'm still getting off readings. I've tried the boveda packs at 69% but it still hasn't worked. I'm now reading at 55% RH and I'm starting to worry. I've check my hygrometer by buying a calibration kit so it's not that. My humidor is seems fine. Shall I re season it? Any help appreciated. Cheers.

How are your Cigars feeling and smoking?

Smoking ok and they are a tad drier than normal, hence why I'm now getting worried as its affecting the smoke

If you have checked the hygro, its probably where you have the meter sat try standing it up so the holes on the back are not covered.

If you're worried I'd stick cigars in Tupperware with your Boveda and reseason, at least you'll know they're safe at the right humidity in a sealed container.

Start again from scratch.

If you're worried I'd stick cigars in Tupperware with your Boveda and reseason, at least you'll know they're safe at the right humidity in a sealed container.

This has got to be the best option surely.

Just out of curiosity, whereabouts is your humidor located?
At this time of year, central heating systems can play havoc with your humidity levels.

You may need to move it further away from the nearest radiator, or move it into a room where there's less chance of temperature swings.

Failing that, have you considered switching to 'Heartfelt Beads'..?
I find them easier to maintain and stabilise than boveda packs.

I've had the heartfelt beads before the boveda pack. It's in the living room but not near a radiator. They was in the garage but it was too cold. Could try the utility room as that's always cooler then the rest of the house. Cheers.

While what you say is "technically" spot on, it's also "technically" wrong.

Temperature can and does affect the relative humidity, but it does not change the amount on moisture in the environment and this is why RH can be a terrible measure.
