• best value cuban cigars

Hi There, I am new to cigar smoking after enjoying a trip to Cuba last year and enjoying some Cohiba robustos over there. now I'm back in the UK the Cohiba cigars are well out of budget so I was hoping to find out what the best value cigars I should consider in Eurpoe. I notice that Partagas Shorts seem to be a lot cheaper than many Cubans and was wondering if this was a good option for my next box or if I would be better off with a few taster packs when I go to Europe in a couple of weeks.

Most of Europe is a lot cheaper for cigars if you are going in the next few weeks I would say wait and get some while out there

Is your preference mild, medium, strong, short smoke, long smoke?
maybe select a few out there to bring back n try
And then look to buy a box on your next outing?

i had to go through a lot of smokes to find my preferences.

the thing with cheap n cheerful is that it's possible to get fed up with them after a while. I prefer spending a bit more but smoking not as often. So when I do fire up it's more quality

What to smoke is a personal choice, you need to try a selection to find what brands and size sticks you like. Thats part of the fun

griffiths, try singles when you are out there they will be a hell of a lot cheaper, if you really like something then you can consider purchasing a box, trying all those different cigars and flavours it's a hard task but we've just got to put ourselves through it...

When starting out you just need to try as many stick as possible to get an idea of what you like - that's the fun part.

You will also find expensive doesn't necessarily mean better, but if you do enjoy an expensive line more I would suggest sticking with that and just smoke less - the whole point is to enjoy it

If you're just starting out the suggestion of a sampler from one of the online UK vendors is a good idea. You should be able to get something like 5 different Cuban petit coronas and then if you like any of those you could go for different sizes and branch out from there into different brands and countries (Nicaragua also make great cigars) . You will definitely get better deals abroad though and if you've tried a few you like here, you can stock up at a bargain € price.

Ps my own recommendations would be H. Upmann coronas junior and Trinidad Reyes for bargain Cubans.

If you enjoyed the Robusto sized sticks whilst out there and thats the 'right fit' for you, Partagas Serie D No 4, Ramone Allones Specially Selected and Bolivar Royal Corona are good places to start imo.

'Value' is of course very subjective.

So if the weather is warmer you have more time a Robusto is a great size [vitola] and one I liked to start with was a Hoyo De Monterey Epicure No2 this is a medium strength cigar. The Partagas brand being one of the greats may be too strong.
Let us know what you try and buy, all the best.
