Labelling cigars?

As my cigar collection starts to grow and I'm starting to try to age some I've been wondering about labeling them with the date... any suggestions from the the learned members as to the best way of doing this?

Coloured sticky dots - 02/16 written on for example. Stick it on the band or the bottom of a tubo

I'd wondered about something along those lines but on the cap but wasn't sure if the label adhesive would affect the cigar?...

I wouldn't stick anything to the leaf. If the cigar doesn't have a band make one with paper and a bit of tape.

Its ok everything I have so far has a band... being a bit of a fussy sort I didnt really want to spoil the bands particularly on the aged ones but I guess better that than spoil the stick!

Also you can buy blank labels for this type of thing, I think cgars do them, maybe Amazon

Heartfelt of the beads fame do them, they're crap, they don't stick. White paper, scissors and sellotape.

When I get home I'm going to date mine with brown paper bands, used cigar boss to keep track of dates before but never keep it up to date when I smoke them

I've tried a few things but the more splits I get in the harder it becomes, I just bought some sticky dots from Amazon (I don't keep the bands, I'm not really fussed about them) and they're crap, gonna try a stationary cupboard at work then one of the card shops near work.
