Fake for me. They look like fake Lusi's. I would have it off with the seller.

Just off the seller? I change my view in the face of popular opinion. I hadn't stopped to think what culebras were!

Wasn't the Culebra originally released in a dress box of 25 (when they were machine made) Given they're twisted in threes, that would account for a single. These in this thread may (and look) be very old. Pre '60s. Very rare, I suggest and worth something to a collector, rather than smoker...

I still think their just suspect at the moment, the seller never called them culebras, he called them Churchills (and Partagas made a Churchill sized cigar until 2006 - the churchill was 1/2 an inch smaller than the Lusi. Is the cigar 7 inches long (give or take a little), and if you can measure it with a ring gauge of 47/64s inch?

It is a concern that according to CCW this band for culebras wasn't made until 2007 but even then it's possible that there was a bit of cross over). We also need to remember that Cuba doesn't get the quality control of their cigars perfect all the time, let alone the bands

Don't get me wrong - I would be concerned but I would suggest discussing your concerns with the vendor rather than confront him. This link is to a useful page you might want to browse:

Who was the vendor by the way? Ultimately a trust worthy vendor is far more important that any band, barcodes or our opinions on a few photos

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Chris as that's what it says on the Cuban Cigar Website and here is the label

So it might not only be genuine, but also rare (and therefore probably worth more than ?20!)

What is the size of the cigar @kipper?

Perhaps with that point about the band Sean, I might be a little bit out on my hypothesis about the years ay? To be honest its only a bit of a stab in the dark, but a possibility?

The band looks a bit loose but I suspect they've dried out a bit, many ways to tell fakes but my go to test is to stand the foot of the cigar on a flat surface and it should stand on it's own, which it wouldn't if it had been poorly constructed and cut.
Let us know how they smoke.

It's 7 inches long and roughly 18mm across (not sure what that makes the RG)

This is all very intriguing and I appreciate your help
