Was just on the head, not anywhere near the foot, which can only be a good thing... Got the box down to 65% earlier...

My understanding of the matter is slightly different. I have always thought that Bloom or Plume is crystallized oils and not mold at all.

        Perhaps you're right.

I wonder if plume/bloom would develop into mold in time? Furry white residue always makes me think mold!

I understood that blume/plume is generally a light dusting as opposed to 'lumpy' outbreaks as in the OP. Some thoughts around bloom/plume have included cigars that have aged in optimum conditions, and also that changes in temperature have brought said oils to the surface of the leaf, resulting in the crystallisation that is (rarely from what I gather) seen. This is what I've read on a few forums where the topic has come up.

Right, watch some bugger pop up a picture of a huge stash of glittering aged sticks

From what I gather, I don't think that genuine plume turns into mold.

CJ - if there is such a thing as plume (and I'm with you btw) I would expect they would be on optimum cigars... These being 6 years old and aged in Cuba at Habonas, may fit into that?

Put it this way, it blew off and left no marks... None of the other 5 boxes in that tub show any signs but it's the first time I've a) seen it ever and b) had this many cigars to worry (care) about!

But thanks everyone for the input, it reminds me as ever how valuable this place really is!

The Anejados have, from what I've read, been all over the place in terms of what people have thought of them. Some have said they've been bloody awful. I had a really tasty one a few months back (can't remember if it was the RyJ or the Monte, without going back, but it was in Nic's Cigar Scene) Similarly, some have really liked the ones they smoked.

I'm glad it cleared away easily for you. I've blown off a few times and unfortunately left the odd mark behind, but that's another story

Wipe it off, check the box for any other suspect sticks and take the mould covered ones and freeze them (carefully). That should kill it and stop it from coming back.

Freezing has no effect on mould only beetles.

Like others have said; if it's white brush off and change the environment so it doesn't come back ie drop to 62-65%

If it's green blue or any colour other than white then chuck.

Plume is a hard one, I have sticks with tiny glitters of crystals but they are hardly visable. What 99% of people post as plume is invariably mould!

Your sticks look fine to me for what it's worth. If they arrived like that then it's mostly down to travel/store issues.
