  • Bastard beetles...

Just got my delivery of a selection of cigars. But upon inspection of the Jose L Piedra I found a bloody hole. Now shall I chuck the lot? Or freeze all the ones that come in the delivery? Any advice please.

Depends how quickly you're gonna smoke them and how worried you are about it spreading? Shame to see it pal, I'm dreading the day it happens to me

Smoke that one and freeze the rest. Not that I necessarily agree with freezing but you have nothing to lose at this point if you have beetles.

      Where did you order from?

Freeze all of them and I would keep the one with the hole...

I have a theory about some of the ones I bought back from Cuba (all frozen) I hear a hiss every now and again... I think to myself that must be the remains of a beetle... It's all protein?!??

You could also but a cheap plastic tupledore to house that and keep them away from your others!

Should I freeze all that came with the order or just the Jose's?

All of them buddy... What ValeTudo said about freezing but, it's the only way you can be sure! Wrap them all in cling film now (go to 24hr supermarket if you have to) place in a freezer bag and put them in the fridge over night, tomorrow morning in the freezer for at least 48 hours, 72 better... Back in the fridge for 24 hours then dark cupboard before putting in a humi...

But i would definitely keep them away from your others!

Into the fridge you go. And the culprit in the bin. Thanks for the info gents. I've contacted the vendor via email and awaiting their response.

Freeze them all. No harm but only good. It can happen but not often

One beetle hole and it probably crawled out (I don't think they crawl in). You can still smoke that with little issues.

2 days in the fridge, 3 in the freezer, 2 in the fridge, back in the humidor.

Why ain't you smoking the culprit? It's the best way to guarantee you kill any bugs in it.

I haven't binned it yet. Just wasn't sure if it's ok, health wise, to smoke a cigar with bugs in lol

Also it's made me paranoid about doing all of my cigars to kill any that are there?
