I can't be the only one who thinks 'I have enough time to smoke a cigar' then life gets in the way. What should I do? Rush the cigar?...NO. So is it ok to just let it burn out then deal with life then escape back to it? Anyone have advice on what to do because a couple of times I've had to let it go out then return later. Taste is a bit off but not the worst.

Some people will tell you that you can relight a cigar that has gone cold. Even if you cut the cigar and remove the ash, there will still be smoke or ash in the barrel (the body of the cigar) which will taint the taste of the tobacco. It’s better to light up a new cigar just my opinion on this

I find some brands lend themselves to this and some really don't! I can't relight a monte or a partagas (ever again) but boli and Trinidad (I did this a few days ago) do...
Also maybe depends on that cigar?
But yeah as PeeJay said some do and some don't... I smoke most of mine in a hottub so find that they go out when they shouldn't, I always relight!

I've tried it once or twice out of necessity and curiosity and haven't found it goes back to original flavour.
I've tried cutting the end, purging it while it's hot, letting it cool and purging it again but as mentioned earlier it still has smoke left tainting the cigar. Even as a smoker I can't stand the smell or taste of stale smoke so it's a no go for me.
Hunters and Frankau say that if its out for more than an hour it's a goner, my opinion if it goes cold for pretty much any time it's no good.

Do what you want, it's your cigar. I can personally taste the difference unless I relight VERY quickly. Sometimes I don't mind but sometimes it puts me right off and I have to ditch.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

Only tried it once , it was a BBF whilst on holiday , it was allowed to go out and then purged , re lit probably an hour later and i found it was fine
interesting npalfrey , you also mention Bolivar as one you consider to lend itself to this , going off this Boli id agree .
i guess its a matter of if the need arises , its down to the individual , you paid your money , bin or retry ?
personally speaking what have you got to lose , if you try and dont like ...bin it .
id imagine a cigar that evolves would lend itself to this more than a one dimensional smoke
its always interesting to listen and read other opinions but its your own that matters , your the guy thats paid out the cash and at the end of the cigarMAKE MINE A CUBAN
