I just think it's boring cause we obvs have opposite views and having a more maths background I believe it is just about numbers so we can't agree.

and human emotion is all down to chemicals in certain proportions at the end of the day anyway.

Anyway... I'll leave it here, I like Maduro's but I like naturals just as much, for me the cigar itself is way more important. I'll take a Padron over a Partagas any day and contrastingly I'd take a Por Larranaga over an Alec Bradley any day, so the cigar filler is way more important for my experiences so far. We're all learning as we go on so maybe one day we'll all agree on this, haha

Enjoy whatever you're smoking guys, Maduro or Natural; have a good weekend

I think the lesson here is more about information sources than wrappers. As our young botl friend points out he has watched every cigar related video he can find and done his research. Some things in life cant be learned but have to be experienced. in today's age of the internet with easy access to information on anything you can think of, real life experiences are often over looked.

Perhaps conciousness is chemicals, perhaps it isnt. In the scientific community its known as "The Hard Problem" we probably know less about the connection between a human and their conciousness than we do about the universe as a whole. Its quite possibly the most elusive question we have thought of as a species.

On the other part whare you state that filler is more important because you would take a padron over a partagas etc.

Well thas not particularly scientific. Have you smoked both with and without wrappers? How about a partagas with a padron wrapper and vice versa?

This is the crux of what weare talking about.

Ultimately it does not really matter how much of an affect that a wrapper has or not because the final product is all thats important to the end user. But there must be some significance otherwise master blenders would not pay differing amounts for different grades of wrapper, because the cheapest wrapper would suffice.

Its an intresting though that. I can just imagine you sitting down an February the 14th to a nice meal and saying

'Darling according to my brain chemistry I love you 67.21% which is the highest I've ever recorded with anyone making you my current true love'

I joke to illustrate my point, numbers are useful in many was however in some cases hard facts don't work. If perfect cigars had a true mathematical formula would any bad ones exist? Taste is subjective and often borne out of experience due to having a 'mental flavour bank' rather than a calculator.

A much more eligant and comical way of saying what I was trying to get at.

The last bit is almost bordering on the theory of Qualia.

Of course no one in their right mind would say or think that but essentially that's what's happening, just without the exact known percentages. There must be days when your wife/partner/girlfriend gets on your nerves, I'm sure it's gonna be down to different percentages off hormones in the brain. Anyway... we are wayyy of topic so I'll leave it at that, haha

Maths can't be applied here because the cigars I smoked on the cruise ship were some of the best I've ever tasted even the ones I've had before. What would be the factor for that?

External stimulation and your state of mind at the point of smoking. At a guess.

Good thread: some fact, opinion, views and skews all mixed with experiential challenge

Back to Maduros (sorry to divert) I've had three which were all NC. The first two were years ago and I thought they were crap. Cannot remember what they were, sorry. I smoked an Oliva Nub a few weeks ago and whilst it wasn't offensive, I just didn't get any of this proclaimed sweetness that many do. It's not a grail of mine, so I guess I'll just have to wait until I bump into something that does 'it'

It's been interesting following this thread, but it all boils down to taste, flavour and situation all of which are very personal and differ from one person to another. An average cigar can taste great if the situation and ambience are right ie relaxing on a cruise. Its like looking at art some people like modern abstract art, a lot of us think it's crap.whose right? We each have our own ideas of what is good/tasty.

I think situation and company has as much to do with the enjoyment than the cigar itself. I've never had a bad cigar with company
