  • A question on Boveda packs, quantities.

I've currently got 1 x 60g 72% pack sitting in my cheap 35count humi, which is currently 1/3 full. My digital hygro (calibrated & checked using boveda kit) is reading 72% whilst the built in cheapo analogue hygro (also calibrated with Boveda kit) is sitting at 70%.

I understand that Boveda recommend using 2 packs for every 50 sticks a humi can hold (well of course they would), but if the RH holds at 72% with just 1 then why should I bother doubling up? Isn't it better to use 1 and then swap once it's expired, or would I get longer use out of 2 packs combined?

Also, am tempted to get a boveda holder for inside the humi - are there performance benefits from using these or is it merely aesthetics / space?

If you search here there's a thread about recharging bovedas and from what I've read I don't think within reason you can have too many in your humi. Too much empty space can have an effect on humidity though.

Boveda's are fine just sitting on top of the cigars. If you were to have 2 in there, that wouldn't do any harm, I'm quite sure they would 'work' together to regulate the humidity

Very useful, thanks RDBM. I'd read that it was possible to recharge them so I'll probably just go ahead and stick the second one in - no point skimping given the relative value of the contents!

Before I got my multi-draw unit, I found that 2 were better in my 50 count even when half full!

Yes, more rather than less is the way forward. They'll allow the RH to 'recover' quicker when the humidor is opened or stock is added/taken away.
