  • added more cigars to humi and the humidity dropped

    Hi,
Added 10 more cigars to humi and the humidity dropped to about 64%

Before that the humidity was about 76%

    is this ok?

  • #2
    76 is way to high
It will drop because u opened the humidor and also the cigars will need to adjust in side

sorry that should say 67% humidity.

I'm using a xikar humidifier and a boveda pack as well

        That should be fine
maybe the bovedas just need a bit of time to adjust themselves

As all above, it'll settle back down, don't worry.

So, how about whilst your tapping into advice on the forum, you take a few minutes to introduce yourself Ewan?

            Hi,
Will do. Just very busy with work at the moe.

will also post some pictures of my humi and very small cigar collection.

            thanks for all the replies.

64 is fine humidity. I find if it's any higher, cigars get a bit 'wet' and dint burn well and need a lot of relights

I know that this is going to sound a bit dismissive but do t worry about it, those numbers are within a fairly close range of each other. If you want it to be steady I would suggest keeping it full or as full as possible and try not to leave it open too long.

As has been said its not so much of a fluctuation to be worried.

I added a Boveda 72% bag to the humidor as well as xikar humidifer. now the humidity gone up to 68%. silly question, but is that too much? should I take one of the humidifers out?

What humidity are you aiming for? If you have put a 72% Boveda in the humidor that will mean you're going to get 70% odd (assuming its a cedar, if its a tupperdor it will be 72%)

What humidity level is the Xikar?

If you're aiming for 65% you need to get a humidifier that reflects that

                          Hi,
The Xikar is a 70% humidity.

The humidity I'm aiming for is about 65% to 67% humidity.

Okay, assuming you have a cedar humidor (rather than tupperdor) you may want to consider going for a Boveda 69%, that should keep it at 67ish% I don't think you need both this a Xikar as they'll work against eachother

                              hi,
                              taken out the Xikar.

is it ok to put Boveda bags on top of the cigars?
