A mid smoke minipurge seems to give my taste buds a refresh... Do it almost without thinking... But not overtly wilfully.

I don't purge atm but I'll give it a go! I got Chinese Five Spice flavours on my last Alec Bradley Prensado Robusto without purging so I'm sure I'll be getting that delectable scented gusset flavour if I try a bit of purging on my next cigar

I believe senakot can aid with purging.

              Nope! You remember quite correctly!

It really helps with young cigars under 1 year of age for me to get through them. A punched cigar (all of mine that aren't piramides) intensely benefits from purge every bit. But you get to know your own habits and when they are necesasry after a while.
I mainly do it to either fix a burn or near the end (almost never before the first half of the cigar is done) when the cigar is starting to go green and rough. When that happens, I can easily rack up one purge every five puffs.
There's a distinct charming roughness about a young cigar on its final third. That kind of ass kicking is sometimes pleasant! Or maybe it's Stockholm Syndrome . I find a pretty linear correlation between age of cigars and "necessity" to purge.

And likely, one of the best Rob

Back in '11, a member called Mr White (I think) linked it and it went down well here

100% agreement on this, I've also found that a reduction in storage humidity to 66/7% from 69% helped too.

The humidity in the room my also make a difference, if it's been raining for a few days then the humidity will be high, these modern day weather apps now list it. All of which may make a difference to the taste of the cigar too.... maybe that's why some smokers find different flavours to others.

I find purging after its gone out really lifts the cigar back up and also on young ones.

Also find flamb? purging far more effrctibe

I'll purge now and again if need be when I'm into the final third and will flame purge before relighting.

This is the method I use and find most of the time it gives an even burn needing little to no correction. I find if I rush this burn problems will follow, with only myself to blame.

As for purging I do it at the start and mid way. Also if I find any harshness towards the end. I think some of it might be in my mind but it makes me feel I am helping.
