Thought I'd ask these questions after reading a conversation between @PeeJay and @Seegarnub on the daily smoke thread regarding cutting the cap once the cigar is lit to ensure optimum flavour from the outset.
I've had a couple of sticks recently which I've had to purge a few times while smoking. I'm not a quick smoker and don't tend to draw too heavily unless the draw itself is tight so I don't think I'm pulling too much heat through the cigar itself. Anyway, I found purging has settled the cigar back down and made it enjoyable again. Thinking about this led me to look into purging a bit and I found mention of a few people who light their cigars purging / blowing air through rather than pulling it in. They do this so that the internal temperature doesn't heat too quickly and create an initial bad taste which seems quite logical though maybe not if you've got a closed foot.
Anyhooos my questions are :
Generally do people purge while they smoke?
Do people purge when they're lighting their cigar (actually purge to light it)?
