So following on from the cellophane discussion when the subject of tubes came up, what's the preference here, in or out? I've always taken mine out of the tubes before placing them in the humidor.
It all up to preference, but all I would ask is why would anyone buy tubed versions of cigars (when both tubed and untubed are available) if you were going to take them out of the tube?

Good question and in my case, the only time I buy tubes is if I'm travelling, for instance abroad on holiday, so that the sticks are protected during the flight etc. and upon arrival at my destination are again protected and easy to take out with me whenever I venture out from the hotel/resort where I'm staying.
Upon my return, I sometimes (and only sometimes) have sticks I haven't smoked while away that need to be placed in my humidor and in my case out of the tubes.

The cigars in tubes are meant to be tubes. They are loaded into their tubes a correct humidity and stored in your humidor will stay at correct humidity. No need to fiddle with the caps or touch them. The purpose of the tube is to slow the aging process, confine aroma and assist fermentation.
OK, they take up a bit more humi room, but worth it for the extra they can give in smoking.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!
I'm really glad that I started this thread as I've learnt something new here and will now be leaving them in the tubes. Thanks Chaps![emoji106][emoji2]
Have to agree with what sheppsea said here's just an example
Bolivar Royal corona untubed ?13.29
Bolivar Royal corona tubed ?16.49 why pay the extra ?3.20 for the tube and then take the cigar out of it and put in the humidor.

X2...actually good point lol. There are occasional sales or aged stock available in tubes but I agree with this statement in general
Store in Tubes, caps on; just like H&F & every supplier you ever bought from. If they can survive in the shop/ warehouse why wouldn't they in your humi? If you have tried tubes cigars of 10-30yo, you'd know much they can benefit.

I've heard the aging advantages are really relevant to the (mostly) cuban style screw caps tubes as they have a perfect seal unlike a lot of sliding type tubes.
