  • Storing boxes in my humidor

    Hi chaps
    Looking for some ideas here.

I have one of those electronic tank/fan set ups in my humidor and I know that it runs around 65- 68% RH and as I check regularly I know that is more or less static.

I stack my boxes one on top of the other with the bottom one lifted from the floor of the humidor to allow air to pass underneath.

I picked a box out of the middle of the pile this weekend to take to a wedding and found when I opened the box that they were a deal dryer than I would have liked. We didn't have an opportunity to smoke one so they went back in the humidor.

I'm thinking of putting something between each box to allow the air to circulate around the box and increase the surface area but I wondered if any one else had an even better solution to this?

Yeah I don't feel quite so proud of my plastic scuba box from BandQ full of cigars now.........

I've read that leaving SLBs slightly open can help with this? But even then, shouldn't the wood, over time, take on the humidity of the air around it? Maybe place the hygro close to this area to check if it truly is dryer there than the rest of the humi.

I shall head into the loft and take a picture later Mo.

Wigan, there is nothing at all to be embarrassed about. The box cost me nowt on Ebay and it's silly to call in a humidor. It's just a box with cigars in.

            Rotate the boxes

But I also find I have the odd box that are drier the others so maybe it's something to do with leaves used? Or humidity or lack off when they were rolled? just thinking out loud

Put the hygrometer in the box you think is dry, with a fanned system I would be very surprised if they we at a majorly different humidity maybe 1-2% from top to bottom

Try lighting a cigar from that slightly drier box....you may be surprised at how it smokes
