  • Cigars to Move onto

    Hi All,

I am interested in widening my Cigar horizons. I haven't smoked a lot of different cigars but I would like to try some more.

I have smoked, a few Monte Cristos, Jose Piedra's, Romeo y Juliet and Rafael Gonzalez. I liked the smoothness of the Monte Cristo's I had and would like something similar to that.

What would you guys suggest I look out for?

    Hey buddy

im fairly new too, and we seem to have smoked similar sticks.

i would recommend a look at H.Upmann junior coronas and Hoyo de Monterey. Both mild but with good flavours and sweetness to them

    cheer

I will have a look out for the Hoyo de Monterey! That was the other cigar manufacture I was trying to think of (H.Upmann). I had one out in Spain when I bought all my other cigars (I must of had a bad stick maybe, it had a slight garlic aftertaste.)! I am a fan of sweet flavours so these sound right up my street!

hopefully going to get some more Monte Cristos as my year aged one tasted lovely!

The Partagas line are worth checking out if you like Monte's.

I think the Quintero Favoritas is worth a try too.

                    Cigars to Move onto

If you lose sweet I would suggest hoyo short piramides. Here are some cigars that are readily available and I think are good (not listing Cohiba as they need age and are expensive for starting out:
                    The Hoyo above
                    RA Superiores
                    RA Specially Selected
                    ERDM Choix Supreme
La Gloria Cubana Medialle Dor No 4
                    All LGC
                    HdM epicure No 2
                    Por Laranaga Montecarlo

If you were to buy a single of each of the above it would serve you pretty well IMO.

So that is three votes for Hoyo, two for bolivar! So they are both on my list now! I was talking to a friend the other day who recommended the quintero. I also think I might of tried a partagas on my last holiday, but I cant be sure. I will buy most of these as singles though. I will be getting some nice Monte Cristo no 2!

Better makes some space in my humidor! Better start smoking them... not just collecting them

Bolivar might be a bit too much in terms of strength, compared to those you've listed.
Here are some very tasty sticks to have a bash at that shouldn't overwhelm with strength:
                        ERDM choix supreme
                        Hoyo de monterrrey Epicure no2
                        Ramon Allones Specially selected
                        Punch Serie D'oro no2
                        H.Upmann Mag 46
                        Partagas P2 or Lusitania
