  • More Embargo Break Discussions From an American Source

I just received an marketing email from an American vendor With a link to a supposed Cigar Advisor article discussing the Embargo drop and modern Cuban versus Modern Non Cuban Brands. There's a load of talk about NC's being closer to Pre Embargo Cubans and how Cuban brands will turn rubbish overnight when Americans start buying up more stock than can be grown and produced. I know we've talked about this already but it's another perspective to look at.

The following link mentions an overseas vendor but I am not endorsing or advising use of this shop except if you go in person but the page contains other links and advertising. Please read the article only. (Deano if the above isn't OK please delete the thread, I can have a got at copy and paste)

Edited out the link Tommy. See if you can copy and paste please. CJ

More Embargo Break Discussions From an American Source

Not sure that's true MC, there's plenty of people with serious money who like smoking but don't really have the first clue how to pick what they smoke. They love the EMS story and in many ways they need it to get a sense of elitism. Me I spend less that 5% what those guys spend but I'm willing to bet that I'm smoking better cigars than they are on a regular basis. Maybe not but I like to think I am, a lot of the reason for that is thanks to some of the Bro's of the leaf I've met here. They know who they are.

I'm not getting into all of the debates mentioned, but the talk of NCs being similar to pre embargo - can't say I can even slightly see where they're coming from.

I suspect we may see a quality drop considering 2000/01 but I'm hoping it won't be perm.

Deano, that was my though too. I really don't see how they are getting to that if you consider that NC's are so varied, often use untraditional techniques and tobacco. Utter nonsense.

Absolute piffle throughout the article in my humble...poor journalism.

As we have discussed many times now there is going to be more and more of these kind of articles. The non Cuban cigar industry is very big business and they are going to battle very hard to try to minimize impact if the US embargo is dropped.

There is plenty of real cigar journalism and sources of information. Smoke what you enjoy, enjoy what you smoke and take all the rest of the nonsense with a pinch of salt.

Perhaps we should just collate all these articles on one thread (as I would imagine there are going to be many more).
