      6+7...
Often felt a funny tummy after a cigar and put it down to swallowed saliva with nicotine/tobacco trace in it, agitating the stomach/bowel.

Always had similar problems when on an empty stomach or over-doing the smokes without enough coca-cola/chocolate to hand. But within the last 6 months I've had much bigger problems with 'hangovers'. Feeling really really poor the next day, headache/tight chest etc - Doc put my on anti acid medication due to some of the aliments! Not sure why this is suddenly happening - this is after 1 or 2 cigars, and I've had days of 5/6 in the past without a problem. Most worrying!

Age dissipates Nicotine we know, and some for some cigars the tobacco is cured longer, but we can still sometimes experience some ill effects from older cigars. Nor does size seem to make a difference, some of the worst offending cigars I've smoked have been small.
As I understand it, the amount of Nic in different plants will vary (Im sure I read its between 0.5 and 5% of the dry tobacco weight.) The plant produces more Nicotine in its top most leaves and the content varies throughout the plant. Different cigar blends are made from selecting leaves from different parts of the plant.

As you said, a big cigar doesn't mean a high nic content. It depends on the content in the leaves in the blend.

Heres an interesting picture showing the different sections of the plant-

These are the minimum curing times that Habanos apply- so some leaves will have already dissipated a proportion of the nicotine before they are part of a cigar. The topmost leaves are also stronger in flavour than the lower.

                Very interesting read!
Have had to go horizontal after hot&cold sweat from a cigar twice so far. Each time near the last third when the bugger wouldnt stay lit without being hoojed up to an oxigen bottle.
i was drawing like i was trying to eat custard thru a straw. probably a combo of one of the above and hyperventilation.

Personally, if I have a smoke which is difficult to smoke like that, I bin it long before it gives me hot and cold sweats and hyperventilation! I know they can be expensive and chucking nearly a whole cigar can be a bit tough to swallow but it's supposed to be enjoyable and relaxing. If it's not, whats the point?

Extremely interesting and useful read, gents. I've personally only experienced a light headedness once and also the urgency to poo a couple of times, but I used to smoke cigarettes pretty regularly - cigar smoking was actually what made me stop cigarettes - so I guess that may have contributed to not experiencing any other sensations.

IMO the light headedness is mostly due to the nicotine, as myself and some cigarette smokers don't get it, but non-smokers that I've introduced to cigars, including my wife, have that feeling pretty much every time they smoke a cigar. The same happens with the urgency to poo, I believe my wife (who is a doctor) told me once that it stimulates the bowels - basically doing the same that caffeine does. Apparently it's also a good remedy for irritated bowels, for some reason.

Yup, now i bin it because i know what is coming, well before the first hot flash because when that woozy feeling starts its too late already. Like drinking beer too quickly : the earth doesnt stop turning when you put down that "last" pint :-)

I get the light headness deffo. Happens me more often as I only really smoke 2-3 times a month. I presume it is my body having a " WTF is this S**t" moment

I think you have to listen to your body Wigan (and Deano), and lay of the smokes for a week or so. If the feeling of 'hangover' goes away then you've possibly isolated the cause, which in all probability is temporary. If it doesn't go, then something else is the problem.

It is only after smoking cigars. I have cut down to only having one every 2 or 3 days. Its not major and goes away after an hour or so. It only happens when I smoke just prior to bedtime and is only there immediately upon waking.
