To glue or not to glue?

Over the past few months I have bought cigars with small splits/damage, these have come from shops, splits and swaps.

I am aware that there is cigar glue in some shops, I have just read in another thread that baking glue works, I have even tried honey that was recommended by a forum member (smelled/tasted nice but made a bit of a mess)

What do you do/use?

Deppends where the splits are scott
For example if near the foot and deppending on the extent of the split
say 1 cm i'd probably cut it off
if the split is a few cms i'd try and repair it with glue.

Just search 'edible glue' on ebay. Tried and tested!

I've tried honey, didn't work for me and yes made a mess, I might get a little bottle of the above though for when I drop my next cigar

I searched for alternatives to cigar glue about three years ago and have been successfully using the cake glue ever since. Great gear and cheap as chips or cupcakes

Most likely the same ingredients.. Based on Pectin usually which is found in fruits.. You can apparently secrete it out of a few lemon pips by putting them on a saucer and into the microwave. Not tried it though. I use a dab of honey which works very well. Rub it on your fingers and dab the loose wrapper. It dries out nicely but you have to use it sparingly!!

Yes Joss, I tried pectin itself, but with variable results. The cake glue grabs quick, dries quick and is undetectable.

Sounds a good alternative to cigar glue and a lot cheaper, nice one[emoji3]

I have usedBottle of pectin for yrs, heals any wound but does taste sweet. Looking for a replacement, have some packet powder but it won' last long. Will try to pick up a new bottle at the Uk shops before we return. Ps no need tho cut foot, even with damaged foot, will smoke fine.

Simon, grab some of the cake/edible glue. You won't regret it. Keep it in the fridge and it'll last for a long time. I've found that the Torcedor glue starts to smell a bit funky when it ages, hence seeking an alternative.

Been and picked this glue up from my local cake baking supply shop, ?2.25 for a 25 mil bottle.



Going to have a look around for a little art/model brush.
