I have noticed this myself, as well. I believe it was off the recommendation of Arf (Tipple's TripleXXX)

But the Bolivar Royal Corona, RyJ Churchill, etc are not different blends compared to their dress box equivalents (as much as I know).
Only the ones I listed 2 posts up would be. The Montecristo Tubos is even around 1cm longer than the Montecristo No. 1. And damn the Bolivar No. 2 tastes MUCH better and different than the Bolivar Petit Corona.

That's an interesting point and I don't know the answer

We know that tubo confinement slows down the ageing process but perhaps that style of maturation (if we think about the top not being taken off) improves flavour over time by not allowing some of the puro luurve/flavour to dissipate?? Concentrating things whilst the cigar/blend matures??

            The simple answer - Yes!

Now, he who shall remain nameless stated in his giant, overweight book (right,se?or CIV) that puros age better when confined in their boxes and/or cabs than they do just laying about in you humidor shelf or drawer.

This makes sense, but it slows down the aging process. So although tubed puros age better in the long run (3 to 5 years minimum), you are better off with the non-tubed variety if you plan on enjoying them with less than 3 years. Your results may vary (in terms of years) of course, depending on your level of tolerance.

Well, that's what I think anyway.

I keep them sealed. If for no other reason than I don't know if it makes for a better maturation. RyJ Cazadores come in a foil lined box for that reason right? I just think that it makes sense that slow maturation without the loss of oils would make for a tastier smoke. Let's all get together in ten years and compare our tubed and untuned smokes. Catalina Joy will have to do without her free cigar tubes.

Thew few tubos I have are in the humi as purchased, my thought being is that's how they ore stored in the shop so good enough for me at home.

Think bout some of the fancy cigars that come in single coffins. They are wrapped in tin foil.

Montecristo As? Partagas Culebras? Hoyo du Monterrey Particulares?

The only tin foil individual cigars have been the Cuabas and various original fashioned diademas (La Esepcion, Fox Seleccion Royal Hunt).
