    DSC_0242.jpg
    Hey Guys,

Sadly my Boveda holder fell into my humidor several times and this fine Diamond Crown Julius Cesar that I got at a tasting and saved for a good day got damaged. :S

I am not sure if the binder is also damaged or if it's just the wrapper. My thought is, that the flavour should still be OK as long as the base can somewhat be air tight. Any ideas if that can be rescued or not?

Cut and smoke it might need a bit of work as you smoke it but you may get away with it

I was wondering if I could fix any leakage with cigarette paper. As I won't burn the cigar down to that level it shouldn't influence the taste?

A cigar can be smoked without the wrapper at all, if it's hemorrhaging smoke then put your finger over it. I think you Will be fine.

All true but if it does need a Rizla repair then go for it, like you say your not smoking the paper. Just rip the glue strip off and use bits of that to repair it like butterfly stitches. I've done that before and it works a treat. You will need to keep the end dry as you smoke it though or the Rizla gum will unstick.

Cool... I was so looking forward to try this one. Got it at a cigar tasting in Malta, which cost me 30 Euros. For that I got three cigars. A Diamond Crown, the Julius Cesar and a third one from the same company. All in all worth almost 60 euros. In addition a very yummy Taiwanese whiskey, wine and champagne sample. The owner of the Diamond Crown company was present as well and he was a lovely chap. This is the last one of the three and the most expensive one of them as well. If it's half as good as the Diamond Crown, I'll be very very happy.

Or perhaps repair it with some wrapper salvaged from another smoke?

Such a shame, I've heard good things about them. Was quite highly ranked in the 2013 cigars of the year.

I've had the toe unravel on me before and it was still fine. So I'm sure this will be fine too and hopefully you can still enjoy it.

The DAS I smoked yesterday unraveled from the foot but a little singe from my lighter remedied that and it burned just fine.

That'll stick the dog's danglies back on, and it doesn't effect taste or flavour

Agree with this, Ive smoked a cigar with similar damage, the hole does not affect the smoke like a hole in a cigarette would. If you want to tidy it up: when you come to smoking it, you could wait till you cut the head and trim the removed cap into a square with scissors. Glue it on like a patch with a dab of honey on your finger. The honey soon dries and forms a good seal with no adverse effect.

Alternatively you could cut a small ring off the foot end and fashion a 'patch' in the same way, again glueing with honey (or cigar repair glue if you have access to it.) The advantage of this is that you can leave it and put back in the humidor (but your cigar will be about 1cm shorter!)
