I've only ever had one monty open junior. I'd like to think that they are a consistent stick, but I don't have the experience with them. Only the one I've had, bought on a whim from cgars, didn't know the age etc. I remember thinking it was a lovely smoke, but too easy for my palette. However, if I came across a box, that smoked liked the one I had, I'd be happy to have them, for defo. Easy smoke. Very Easy. Aroma was very satisfying. It's the sort of smoke I'd have as a quick short fix. There's definitely a time & place for a small stick like that.

These are nothing like a Monte 2, the Monte 4 or 5 are a much better option. And much more close to the 2's flavour

I'm a little surprised that a guys says he likes the Monte 2 and gets recommended the Open series..... To me that's like someone saying I like whisky and we tell them to try a cup of tea.

In my defence..I thought the guy was a newbie so, recommending something from the Open series wouldn't overpower him. He may be a smoker converting over to cigars, in that case he may find a fuller flavour more to his liking?

I bought the junior from one store. At another store the staff member 'poo-poo'd them big time. I fired it up a month or so after and thought it was going to be crap, but actually wasn't bad and pretty enjoyable in comparison to some other more expensive Cubans in that small range. A very good cigar for a beginner I thought. Just my opinion.

I think the Open series is slightly misnamed. It doesn't really taste like a Montecristo and stands out like a sore thumb in the line. That's not to say they're bad cigars, just that the obvious cash in on the famous brand means that expectations are very different from the reality.

For their designed purpose of giving casual and occasional smokers something accessible to try, possibly on the golf course, they're pretty nice. They're just not really Montes IMHO.
