  • Montecristo everyday smokes

As most of you know I really enjoyed a montecristo no2 last night. Funds are getting a bit low and wondered if anyone had had a Montecristo Mini Cigarillo before? Are they anything like a hamlet or cafe creme as they were horrible. I know they won't be like the no 2 but anything like it at all?

Just ts looking for a good cheap everyday smoke and a pack of 50 for about ?33 I think it was sounds a bargain.

Could be your thing, but then again might not. These little things are machine made. Personally I didn't take to Cohiba clubs or the like one bit...
Try a pack if you can, only the way to find out. Best of luck!

For me (personally), this enters into ciggarette territory too much and they seem designed for a quick "5 minute hit". A cigar should be appreciate over a decent length of time, and as has already been pointed out these are machine made so a lot of the personality and nuances may be sapped from this particular style/size of cigar.

Then this is just my opinion

Some cigar smokers get on with them. But it's something you have to try out to see if they agree with you. Personally I thought that these would've been ideal for me, for a quick fix.
        Oh how I was wrong...

These were pretty much my gateway drug but have gone back to these they don't really cut it.

I have found, since smoking 'full sized cigars'? that the cigarillos & mini's are too harsh. The proper cigars, if you will, offer more in flavour & depth.
            Just my 2p's worth..

The smalls are too small. Mine burned hot due to their size killing all, if any, flavour. Harsh little feckers...

Tried them not long after switching from cigs to cigars when I still felt like I needed a nicotine hit particularly when having a drink had even then I thought they were shit. Bearing in mind just a couple of weeks previous I was enjoying the taste of 20 cigs a day and still thought they were that bad. On the other hand I think butters is quite the fan of them or something like so I guess it is like pretty much everything, just down to personal preference. Like someone else has already said, only way to find out is to give em a try.....

Or cheaper yet (UK price), try a Montecristo Open Junior. Small 20 min smoke. Nice mild easy smoke with a great montecristo aroma. It surprised me for such a small cigar. For the better!

Heard some good reviews for these, the cigarillos are okay ish but are a bit harsh compared to a cigar so don't get your hopes up too much. Try a pack and see how you get on with them.

You may like them but tbh probably not, however I wouldn't buy 50 until I knew.

I've not had Monte minis but have found others to be pretty nasty, much harsher and lacking in any real flavour and enjoyment.

The Clubs, however can be a very enjoyable quickie smoke if you strike that balance between puffing often enough to stay lit and getting too hot, but it's a very tricky balance to strike with a very small cigar.

I'd personally avoid the Minis and probably the Puritos in your shoes, the Puritos are "OK" but they only ever seem to make me crave a proper cigar.

My advice would be not to look for a cheap "every day" cigar, but look out for good cigars you enjoy even if it means smoking less often for the same money. I've found the Montecristo No.5 very agreeable and it's become pretty much my go-to cigar for most occasions as the mix of smoking time, flavour, construction and quality seems to do me well, so it may be worth looking at something similar (Perla/TPC.)

I'd agree with Simon G's recommendation, any of the Monte Open Series are great easy smokes. Nice & mild, ideal for a novice really.
Also I think you would probably enjoy a Hoyo de Monterrey du Maire, They're relatively cheap, mild & will last around 20 mins. They're my regular dog walking smokes!
