some reason its dropped to about 63 now? Think I took the 67 reading to quick and it wasn't a real reading. Is 63 to dry for it? Ahhhhhh the science to this god damn hobby!
?Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.?

      Where is hydrometer situated?

If your opening and closing it and generally faffing around with then sure the humidity will be all over the place. Just leave it alone it will be fine

Thanks buddy, I was reading somewhere that you can get away with 60ish. Humi in sitting room away from any radiators or anything like that

The hydrometer. Is it on the front and you can read it without opening the humidor or is it, like mine, inside and need to open the lid to read it and in the process affecting the reading?

no its inside man, so taking a reading is essentially faffing about with it

Had to revisit this as went away and couldn't stop thinking of going through this not that long ago. At one point I convinced myself the inside of my humidor had too much moisture absorbed and took all my (cheap and nasty starter) sticks out and put in sandwich bags whilst I sat the open humidor in front of the fire. Went online bought a digital hydrometer and, what turned out to be, a really crappy xikar unit rated for 250 sticks thinking my little stock of 10 or so sticks was to much for what I had to handle. lol

Now I barely even glance at the reading. Grab a stick, have a squeeze and a sniff, say to myself yep that`ll do, and spark it up.

So you see your not alone mate and I am sure I am not the only other member to go through a newbie panic. This hobby is about relaxation and satisfaction so like I said before just chill it will all be ok.

Haha! We all go through perfecting the humidor humidity at some point in this....how you say, "god damn hobby!"

Now, as some of the forum "experts" have noted, 60% is doable, but for my taste, I prefer NOT to let the humidity get below 65% or raise above 70%. But it all hinges on the accuracy of your hygrometers.

All my hygros are digital units which can be calibrated...and I calibrate on a regular basis using Boveda One-Step Calibration packs.

                  But that's just me...

That link doesn't have the info on I was talking about were it suggests the humitdity intended for cannabis maybe better for cigars in hotter climates but my manager is on night shift with me and don't have the time to find right one. Will check in the mornign

Hurumph! Cat? Cat who? I wouldn't listen to el Kat, if that's who you mean. Why, that lad hasn't shown his ugly mug around these parts in nearly two years.
