Trying my first Inka (not impressed but haven't had a Cuban yet so nothing to compare it to.. I Bought a jet lighter yesterday, filled it with butane gas and as soon as I light the thing it goes out straight away.. All the time. Any idea?

FIRST - Read whatever instructions came with the bugger.
Next, adjust the torch (usually a sloted screw on the bottom) all the way towards the "+" and listening for a hissing sound as you hold the lighter open (after you blow out the flame, of course), indicating a strong supply of butane. If it won't light on it's own, hold a match next to the jet.
Then, if necessary, purge the unit of all air by holding it upside down and pressing on the little fill nipple until the hissing stops, then fill with quality butane.
This should be a good start to get you going.

The couple of lighters I have seem to have a "sweet" spot on the adjustment that TJ is referring to with the slotted screwdriver.
Much before or past this point and the lighters seem to go out regularly. If I keep then at that point then I hadn't needed to do all the stuff that is recommended on here. Simply trial and error of finding the sweet spot then refill as necessary, nothing else
