I have not tried any Davidoff yet, would love to try some!

Davidoff of Geneva unveiled its new line of cigars, dubbed the Davidoff Winston Churchill, at an exclusive prelaunch event last night in New York City. The line is a complete overhaul of an existing Davidoff property introduced in 2007, previously known as the Winston Churchill. The company is in the process of retiring the old cigar, allowing current stock to expire and make way for the relaunched brand with its new blend and packaging. | Cigar Aficionado

            Well Vince wasn't impressed!

'Nasty nasty nasty, one of these ruined my day at Adnams brewery . Had one of these and it tasted BAD, with the added bonus of a nasty after taste. Tastes like someone dipped it in solvent. The great man him self would not want his name put to this cigar. I had to go back and have another pint to clear my mouth of this. If you like a good cheap smoke buy something else there are so many others that will be a joy to smoke.'

And that's from the linked page

Vince might be an idiot though.

I was going to describe them as one (tiny) step up from Chinchalero Novillo.

It was in the first or second batch of cigars I got so would have been just a couple of weeks since I enjoyed my last cigarette. They were ok to my palette but only just. At that time. Mainly wanted them for the tin figuring it could be topped up and used for out and about. (This is before I discovered the mighty HUHC and its lovely little tin.) Would I try them again? Sure I would. By the sounds of what he said I would likely regret it but would be good to see how far my understanding of flavour and sticks has come.

Worth revisiting for that reason...When I started I had a few Quorums and thought they were ok, during the summer I had another and hated it...Not sure if it was a bad one or my palate has changed.

Palate changes. Certain of it. Not always in a straight line. Stuff I thought I was past liking then liking again later. Stuff I thought I had started to fully appreciate not tasting as amazing. Guess what you have been up to for the previous couple of days effects it.

That box of Chinchalero Novillo I have. Was still getting good ones out of it but was like playing Russian roulette on sometimes getting one that tasted like what I imagine poo to taste off. Literally. That's the only reason I stopped.

I'm a massive fan of the Davidoff range and the Winston's. I heard from staff in the Davidoff shop that they are planning on redesigning the whole Winston range. Might be worth getting a few to stock up now. Change isn't usually a good thing...unless you hate it already of course.

I bought a 3 pack of the Davidoff Nicaragua line and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not tried a Winston yet. May grab one to benchmark against the new blend.
