I myself would buy a box of 25 cigars wether it's a year old or a few years old inspect the cigars job done.
If after smoking a few i like them then i'd ask for another when the time came with same year.

Seriously? The place we are getting the cigar stands from will send a list of everything they have with all date codes listed and you can choose from it?

I want something sealed from July 2013 but not sure what. Not sure if I am that fussy what actually.

It's all good buying sticks with age on to smoke now but with the current trend of Cuba I'd say if you haven't picked stuff up in the last couple years and seeing how they progress and age from creation you're missing out.

Holy crap, where do you shop that you get to scan 50 boxes?

I buy my cigars in Havana ... Yes some of the bigger sellers (upmann pc's ... Upmann half coronas ... Monty no 4 etc etc ) there will be 50 boxes on the shelves in the walkin .

a master case is generally ( but not always ) 1000 cigars . .. 40 dress boxes or 20 cabs or whatever ... Unless the presentation won't allow 40 boxes to fit into the ( larger) box ... Then it will be fewer .

Can you imagine every tobacconist telephoning hunters and frankau saying i've got customers wanting certain boxes with certain years and codes.
They would have to keep going through their huge stock, looking on a daily basis, rather than a tobacconist telephoning them and saying
need 6 boxes of this brand and guage 6 boxes of this that and the other job done.
To me year is more important than codes.

The thing is, I am not angry, upset, sad or anything like that. I personally like someone who has a strong opinion. It creates diversity and ultimately a 6 page thread with an absolute wealth of knowledge within it. These threads are good for the heart and soul. Some people get frustrated, but that is life.

Considering the size of H & F, combined with the high value of their stock, I would imagine that they have an electronic stock control/monitoring & order picking system so it wouldn't be much of an issue for them to pick by specific box codes.

Well i won't mention which tobacconist i spoke to about some cigars i wanted
they in reply said when we place an order we get what they send no guarantee's it's going to be such a year .
