Whilst I've been on holiday my cigar consumption has risen from two or three a week to two or three a day of various sizes and I have experienced tongue burn for the first time. Basically a sore white patch on the back of my tongue which of course worried me especially as MLW is a dental nurse who deals a lot with oral cancers. So off to Google and a quick search turned up what it is but more interesting is that it's mainly connected to the use of punch cutters because they concentrate the heat on a smaller area and nubbing your cigars. One response even suggested stopping at the band!
