    Hi chaps,

Been reading the forum for a few weeks and decided to join.

Tried my first cigar last summer not knowing what I was doing and recently thought I'd like to get into it, so took my self to a B&M in Leeds and bought an H Upmann half corona. After reading a post on here recommending it as a first smoke.
It was a little harsh at first but soon went well and was quite smooth alway through up to the last inch where it got fairly hot.

A few questions (I'm sure there will be many more to follow) I'm in the process of sorting a tupperdor out so in the mean time would I be better off smoking the tubed cigars?
Alsp the ash of the cigar am I better off leaving it on as long as possible or knocking it off ? Does this affect the flavours .

    Thanks

    Powersy

Smoke tubed cigars in the meantime, leave the ash on as long as you can, sort your tupperdor as and when you can .... and don't smoke H Upmann Short Coronas ever again.

    Newbs?
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

        Welcome to the show, choco!

Now, I agree with every thing the old wise one - se?or tripplexxx said with one additional comment.

If you plan to enjoy your puro at the point of purchase or very soon after (day or two), you'll be fine with an un-tubed stick.

        Enjoy the trip!

Welcome to the site, you've got a nice little road ahead of you: trying out cigars for the first time etc. Biggest piece of advice is to not rush smoking your cigars. Take em nice n slow. Take in the flavours and overall experience. See which you take to, and don't. Personally I prefer cubans over non-cubans. But yes, all the best and enjoy.

                  Welcome along

The joy of this hobby, everyone has different likes and dislikes. I've yet to try a HUHC, but have heard very varied opinions.

Regarding it getting very hot toward the end, make sure you are not smoking it too fast, this can cause the whole stick to overheat and go bitter. A rough guide is one draw a minute. Smaller and more slender ring gauge smokes suffer from this easier, which is why I think the trend of fat cigars may be on the up, they need less managing, but arguably reward less as a result.

                        Thanks guys,

It took me roughly 50 minutes to smoke it.

I will try the tubed ones in the near future.

                        Thanks again !!
