This is how I feel about the Juan Lopez Ideales.

I've hated the Dip Spains. So much. Only have tried two and just started bombing them out left and right after a while.
It honestly wasn't worth the trouble for me...

You were fortunate to have smoked the Reales, given the released numbers and perhaps you should have held onto whatever stock you had of the Dippys as they may, just may, turn out to be a release within the last five years that turns out to be a classic. I could be wrong...

care to PM a source? Though I'm unlikely to get a chance to go to Spain for a few months.
A weekend in Barca could be in order.

I agree - the RASS Robusto Cortes Dutch RE I have tried have been excellent cigars and I thought they were much better than the Andorran release, I've been meaning to pick up a box for a while now but never got round to it, I might have a nose round for one now

I don't feel qualified enough to say this will be a classic in 5-10 year, but I would recommend them as a great smoke. I have a box of the Dippy Spanish RE as well, I didn't enjoy the first one too much, but there are still another 9 to change my mind - I think I'll be leaving them for another year yet

I felt the Dippy RE was a bit young and fresh not to my liking that's why I stuffed them in the back of the humi forgot I had them until they got mentioned

                        Ah. Ya.

Can't recall. But not worth dragging this out...

In some ways it's wrong to attach the word 'classic' to RE and EL because how we perceive and value them is very much determined by how they start ROTB and then by scarcity as they become more and more difficult to find.

A true classic Cuban cigar is one which has earned and holds its reputation year on year. RyJ Churchills, Punch Punch, H Upmann Sir Winston and you lots ubiquitous and ghastly PDS4s being examples.

Trinni Reyes (2004) and BHK 52 (2010) I guess are in with a chance. I've not smoked one, but folk seem very positive about the Le Hoyo San Juan and to my mind the Monte PE will remain the benchmark for all vitola in that size area. Never likely to be called a 'classic,' but certainly worth its place in our humis is the Quint Favoritos, not many cigars deliver as much for the price.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!
